Scotland East & St. Andrews Golf Tour with Private Driver
Scotland East & St. Andrews Golf Tour is a seven-day private Scotland trip pairing rounds at the country’s most legendary courses — St. Andrews and Gleneagles among them — with castle visits, distillery stops, and a private driver throughout. The route follows Scotland’s East Coast through Edinburgh, Stirling, Falkland, and St. Andrews.
This is a golf trip, but it’s also a Scotland trip. You’ll play some of the world’s most legendary courses—the ones that have tested professionals and amateurs for over a century. But you’ll also explore castles, visit distilleries, and experience the country in a way that goes beyond the fairways.
You’ll start in Edinburgh, where a private transfer meets you at the airport. Your first day includes a guided tour of Edinburgh Castle, perched high above the city on volcanic rock. This is where Scottish kings and queens lived—Queen Margaret, Mary Queen of Scots, James VI. The history is palpable. You’ll walk the Royal Mile, a medieval thoroughfare that runs from the Castle to Holyrood, through the heart of historic Edinburgh. You’ll stay at the Radisson Collection, perfectly positioned for exploring the city.
From Edinburgh, you’ll transfer to Gleneagles, one of Scotland’s most iconic hotels. This is where you’ll play two rounds. The King’s Course opened in 1919 and is considered a masterpiece of golf course design. It’s tested the aristocracy of golf for over a century—both professional and amateur. The PGA Centenary Course is more modern but equally challenging, designed to host major championships. Both courses are set in the Perthshire countryside, with views that make it hard to focus on your swing.
At Gleneagles, you’ll also experience falconry. The expert falconers will teach you the techniques of this fascinating sport, and you’ll watch a flying demonstration with eagles, hawks, and falcons. It’s an ancient practice that feels perfectly at home in the Scottish countryside.
Then it’s on to St. Andrews, the home of golf. You’ll stay at Kinnettles Hotel, a boutique property in the heart of the town. Your private guide will take you to Stirling Castle, one of Scotland’s most important historic sites, and to Falkland Palace, which was once a hunting lodge of the Stuart kings. These aren’t just stops between golf rounds—they’re essential parts of understanding Scotland.
In St. Andrews, you’ll play the Castle Course, which offers stunning views of the town and the North Sea. You’ll also visit Kingsbarn Distillery, where the whisky is designed to be light, fruity, and floral—every element of the process tailored to the region’s style. The tour includes a visit to their exhibition, a guided tour of the distillery, and a tasting. It’s a different take on Scottish whisky, and it’s worth experiencing.
Your final round is at the Jubilee Course, considered the most challenging of all the courses in St. Andrews. It’s a links course in the truest sense—windy, undulating, and demanding. After your round, you’ll visit the Palace of Holyroodhouse, standing at the end of the Royal Mile in Edinburgh. It’s the Monarchy’s official residence in Scotland, and it’s a fitting end to a trip that combines golf, history, and the best of Scottish culture.
What makes this trip different is the private driver and guide. You’re not on a tour bus with dozens of other people. You’re traveling in comfort, with someone who knows the routes, the best times to visit places, and the stories that bring Scotland to life. It’s an off-the-beaten-track experience that lets you avoid the hustle and bustle while getting a truly authentic view of the country.
