Sedona & Grand Canyon Multi-Adventure Tour
There’s something about Northern Arizona that gets under your skin. The red rocks glow in the sun. The desert air is crisp and clear. And the Grand Canyon—well, it’s one of those places that no photograph can prepare you for. This six-day adventure takes you through the best of it, combining hiking, biking, and kayaking in a way that lets you experience the landscape from every angle.
You’ll start at the Grand Canyon’s South Rim, where you’ll bike along Hermit Road—a route that sees little traffic and offers views that stop you in your tracks. Your guides know this place. They’ll point out the wildlife, explain the geological layers that tell millions of years of history, and help you understand what you’re looking at. Then you’ll hike down into the canyon itself, walking among juniper and pinyon pine, past towering cliffs where the rock layers reveal the story of the earth.
You’ll stay at Maswik Lodge, a welcoming retreat with connections to the historic Santa Fe Railroad. It’s the kind of place that feels right for the Grand Canyon—comfortable, unpretentious, and perfectly positioned for exploring the park.
From there, you’ll bike through Sunset Crater National Monument and Wupatki National Monument, where you’ll see the lava flow from Arizona’s most recent volcanic eruption. The contrast is striking—black volcanic rock with trees and flowers growing from it, creating a landscape that feels almost otherworldly.
Then it’s on to Sedona, where the red rocks take center stage. You’ll stay at The Wilde, a hip boutique hotel with terrace views that showcase the desert scenery. Sedona itself is a mix of natural beauty and local culture—artisan shops, cafés, and a vibe that’s equal parts laid-back and sophisticated.
The hiking here is spectacular. You’ll explore Mescal Mountain, Doe Mountain, and Boynton Vortex—places where the red-rock formations create natural amphitheaters with wide-open desert vistas. You’ll hike through Red Rock State Park, marveling at soaring sandstone cliffs and formations that seem to change color with the light. One hike takes you up Airport Mesa to Table Top Mountain, where you’ll get 360-degree views of Sedona and the surrounding landscape.
You’ll also kayak the Verde River, which might surprise you. In the middle of the desert, you’ll find a lush riparian zone—an oasis teeming with wildlife and greenery. You’ll navigate small rapids and paddle past creeks, canyons, mesas, and mountains. It’s a different perspective on the desert, and it’s beautiful.
You’ll explore Cottonwood, an old Western town known for its historic charm and vibrant local culture. You’ll taste fresh Southwestern flavors and get a sense of what life is like in this part of Arizona. And throughout it all, you’ll learn about the Sinagua people who once called this area home, their pueblos, and the legends that surround this landscape.
This isn’t a trip where you just look at the scenery. You’re in it—hiking through it, biking along it, kayaking down it. The combination of activities means you experience the landscape in ways that wouldn’t be possible otherwise. And the guides make all the difference. They know the best routes, the best times of day, and the stories that bring the landscape to life.
